Stunning original photography of every circuit by new name Gavin D. Ireland
Track diagrams show the evolution of the circuits
Many period photographs and period memorabilia illustrations such as programme covers/event posters
Haunting images capture the spirit of forgotten venues
Many of the ‘lost' circuits are under threat: the book includes details of campaigns to save them

A look at the history of nine of Europe's great abandoned race circuits – and seen as they are today in stunning photographs.

Around Europe lie a number of long forgotten monuments, wind swept and abandoned the derelict buildings and crumbling tarmac are all that remains of once great motor racing circuits. From the great speed bowls of Monza and Brooklands, to the parkland of Crystal Palace. All photographed as they are now but remembered in their prime.

Independent Reviews

Critical praise for Autodrome:

“an evocative history you’ll be proud to leave on the coffee table.”
- Paul Hardiman, Classic and Sports Car

“the real selling point of this book in my eyes is Gavin Ireland's stunning contemporary photos. These are absolutely beautiful, and enough to justify the £35 purchase price in their own right.”
- Ben Lovejoy,

"the photographer, Gavin D. Ireland, has done a particularly fine job of finding romance and colour in what are now often bleak locations. Backed up by well-reproduced shots of the circuits in their heyday, his moody pictures speak more eloquently than words of the decay into which these once-great gladiatorial arenas have fallen."
- Octane

“Where this book really scores, though, is on the superb photography: Gavin Ireland really is very promising indeed.”
- Marcus Simmons, Motorsport

"The words, from journalist Sam Collins, are excellent, but it is the 160 photographs that truly bring the circuits back to life. Contemporary images sit alongside their modern equivalents, taken by Gavin Ireland, providing a stunning insight into how each track has fared over the years. This week's essential."
- Autocar

“Autodrome serves its target audience very well, giving enough historical detail to be interesting without drowning the reader in facts. [It] should draw in people who never thought they could find any interest in motorsport venues of the past. Archive photography is accompanied by a wonderful set of up-to-date images commissioned specially for this book from Gavin Ireland.”
- David Finlay,

“A most enjoyable and informative book with photographs of the very highest quality”
- Tony Mantle, British Racing Mechanics Club

“One of the best photo books we've ever seen”
