The first in a series of five books which chronicle in definitive depth the history of the evergreen 911, from the earliest design studies to the water-cooled cars of today. This volume covers original design, the 901 prototype, the early 911s (including 912s) and the 2.2 litre cars.
Covers design, the 901 prototype, the early 911s (including 912s) and the 2.2 litre cars. First shown as the 901 prototype at the 1963 Frankfurt Show, the 911 quickly built on the Porsche legend established by the 356 models. A process of continuous evolution has kept the 911 fresh for nearly 40 years, while impeccable build quality has ensured that most of even the very earliest cars have survived as desirable and usable classics. This is the first of a set of books which will chronicle in great depth the history of the evergreen 911, from the earliest design studies to the water-cooled cars of today.
Review from www.total-sportscar.com, June 2007
At long last here’s a title that deals with every model of 911, although this volume one and goes up until 1971. Apparently, the author received full co-operation from Porsche and the title features full year-by-year, model-by-model covering that refreshingly also includes all the various limited editions. There are over 230 mostly colour photographs, with some rare shots, with advertisements and sales brochure material. This is a nice book and features a nice layout.
