Morris Minor – 60 years on the road
Morris Minor – 60 years on the road
Originally £24.99
By Ray Newell
The Morris Minor, designed by Alec Issigonis, was one of Britain's most popular cars, and 2008 marked 60 years since the first production models rolled off the production lines at Cowley in Oxfordshire. In this celebratory publication, Ray Newell looks in detail at the development of the wide range of models produced during a production run which spanned twenty two years in the UK. Using mainly contemporary materials covering four decades, he transports the reader to an era when the pace of life was much slower and the marketing of vehicles considerably different to the slick advertising of today. Issigonis' sketches of the prototype cars, sales brochures, promotional materials, and rare and unusual photographs make this a fascinating story.

Motor Movies - The Posters!
Motor Movies - The Posters!
Originally £34.99. Author-signed copies available
By Paul Veysey
From the late 19th century the progress of the movies has paralleled that of the motor car. Now, for the first time, these developments are chronicled through the medium of the movie poster. This book celebrates the progression from the simple and crude, through the functional, the ambitious, and the barking mad, right up to today's high-tech, computer-generated, often soulless examples of both cinema and automobile. By charting the poster art of the movies chronologically, the book takes you on a journey through the 20th Century in black and white, sepia, hand-colouring, stone-litho, and glorious technicolour, and shows the obsessively accurate, the artist's impression, the photographic and the wildly imaginative depictions of the automobile. With 250 pictures of rare originals, and a star rating system for rarity, this is a beautiful book to browse, as well as valuable investment guide.

Motor Racing at Oulton Park in the 1970s
Motor Racing at Oulton Park in the 1970s
100 photos, many previously unpublished.
By Peter McFadyen
By 1973, non-championship Formula 1 races were history and Oulton Park’s feature races, the Gold Cup and traditional Good Friday meeting, turned to Formula 5000 and eventually to National F1 and F2 categories. The races attracted top national and international drivers such as Redman, Gethin, Purley, Guy Edwards and Teddy Pilette, and the racing remained as entertaining and the cars as spectacular as ever. Occasionally, the stars did come back to Oulton, the Tour of Britain bringing Graham Hill, James Hunt and rallying’s Roger Clark and Billy Coleman. World champions-to-be Alan Jones, Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell honed their skills in Formula Ford, F3 and F5000, while club racing thrived. 100 superb pictures, many previously unpublished, recall this period of consolidation at the beautiful Cheshire circuit.
